AFS Intercultural Programs

Travel can open the door to the world, but immersing oneself in the culture of another country can make that experience life-changing!  AFS Intercultural Programs is a non-profit, volunteer-based organization that has been around for over 65 years and provides a variety of opportunities for students ages 14-18 to travel abroad and live with a host family. We offer short, 2-week Global Prep and traditional 4-8-week programs in the summer. Students can also travel to more than 50 countries on a semester or yearlong program. Some countries even offer gap-year, language study, and community service programs. Scholarships are available.

If going abroad doesn’t seem like the best fit or, perhaps, your children are still young, another great option is to bring the world to you. AFS is always looking for families to host exchange students. In the metro Atlanta area this school year, we have 30 AFS students from all over the world staying with host families and learning all they can about U.S. culture.

For more information about going abroad and/or hosting with AFS, please contact Allyson Sicard, at or 404-435-2043.
