The Emory WorkLife Resource Center is excited to introduce a new program called The Emory Employee-

Student Job Network. The new program is a joint collaboration between the WorkLife Resource Center and

the Emory University Career Center. It is designed to exclusively help Emory faculty and staff looking to hire

Emory students to help them with work-life responsibilities such as babysitting, pet care, house sitting,

lawn care, etc.

In the past, these types of arrangements were often met through informal means or online LISTSERVs and

personal referral. Programs similar to this exist at other universities but tend to focus on mainly babysitting

services. The program at Emory provides job opportunities to students interested in other types of part-

time work. Having a program in place like this will assist employees in finding part-time child care options

and fill gaps in schedules where child care centers and after-school programs cannot. It will also help

employees find reasonably priced help for things such as lawn care, house sitting and pet sitting. And for

Emory students, it will be a way to put a little extra cash in their pockets.

Employees interested in hiring an Emory student for a work-life job can post their position on the job  

database at the Career Center for students to review and follow up. With the current state of our

economy, this program will be useful to everyone and help create a central place to find such a linkage.

The WorkLife Resource Center will be promoting this job network with the assistance of The Emory

University Career Center to help increase knowledge to both employees and students. This service is

available to both Emory University employees as well as Emory Healthcare employees.

While this is a great opportunity for everyone at Emory, it is still important to always take proper safety

precautions. Tip sheets have been created to help both employees and students at Emory and can be
